Album

6 O'Clock at the Weekend is Jonathan Hill's debut self written & performed, recorded & produced album. Recorded at his home studio and mastered at Abbey Road, the album features a blend of rock/pop/blues all played live on the many instruments collected over the years.
6 O'Clock at the Weekend is a collection of carefully crafted songs, soaking up influences such as Eric Clapton, Chris Rea, the Stereophonics, Paul McCartney and Don Henley.
A guitarist at heart, with a love of the big solo, but not afraid of the long understated outro. Highlights are the big productions of Since Knowing You, the haunting tribute It's What I Know and the beautiful Pretty Girl in the Blanket.

Actual Quotes:
"Nice mixes to work with. I actually quite enjoyed it" - Sean Magee, Mastering engineer, Abbey Road (has a Grammy for the Beatles Remasters)
"Amazing"
"Great work, you must be really pleased with that"

Lyrics

How Will I Know

I can see the world in all of its glory
Beyond the pale at times seems a different story
How does it walk the talk, it seems so peculiar
For all they know it's worse for people who knew you

All along the way, all I've wanted to say
It takes some time to be sure of the signs
when the world gets in your way

How will I know, how will I know
If this is how it feels to be me
I wouldn't know, I wouldn't know
so tell me how it feels to be real

It promised the world but gave us nothing
How did all the feelings turn to stone
Tempted by all over the horizon
Nothing to see with these eyes but the lines of a frown

All along the way, all I've wanted to say
It takes some time to be sure of the signs
when the world gets in your way

How will I know, how will I know
If this is how it feels to be me
I wouldn't know, I wouldn't know
Somebody tell me how it feels to be real
Life to Move on

Is there anybody out there by my side?
Waiting for the final time
Reaching out, don't know why
Searching for a place to try

It's the case in the place that is saying that it's like this
It's saying life can move on
Caught standing in the ways of the world
that would rock this town
I can't get life to move on
I can't get life to move on

Looking for the answer right outside
Wishing for a place to hide
Moving up, upward climb
Going to find a peace of mind

It's the case in the place that is saying that it's like this
It's saying life can move on
Caught standing in the ways of the world
that would rock this town
I can't get life to move on
I can't get life to move on
The Sun Will Shine

I like the way that you smile
so I sit and watch for a while
You do the things that you do
so my days are lost to the sky

I know why, I know why, I know why I cry
I know why, I know why, I know why I try

You are the light in my day
That's why I will continue to say, that

I know why, I know why, I know why I cry
I know why, I know why, I know why I try

I know the sun will shine
I know the reason why
I see it in your eyes

I know why, the sun will shine
Avarice

She gets up early in the morning
Don't know where she is going
Takes a good look at the picture
Won't know how much I'll have missed her

Walking around with her hands down by her side
With her arms right open wide
Looking for the truth she has never seen
She's all and everything in between

She looks up, out along the window
Feeling that all it was that she would go
Looking for that optimistic sign
Searching for the perfect piece of mind

Walking around with her hands down by her side
With her arms right open wide
Looking for the truth she has never seen
She's all and everything in between
Change

He pauses for a moment, to consider his way
Taken by the minutes of each hour of every day
Knowing what is said never thinking why
Looking at the world, wondering if it's just a lie

I`ve got to know if I can change
I`m saying, going 'round the same
I know I`m taken by the moment
Of knowing something's got to change
I can`t be going around the same, to forever
Knowing that it`s now or never
Leaving my sense and saying, it's in my head now,
I`m not staying

Thinking about the rules, are they going to change
Knowing about the way for things to stay the same
Leaving all the past, moving on to new
Breaking down the walls of knowing what to do

Knowing what is said, never thinking why
Looking at the world, wondering if it's just a lie

Going to make a change,
I know I'm going to make a change
Lights Across the Sky

I have got a feeling that I can't explain
It's like falling through the wilderness not knowing my name
These are all the reasons that I wanted to stay
But all this talk is meaningless you won't hear what I say

This time it'll be alright and I'm feeling like I won't let go
I know that the time is right for the reasons I won't let it show
They say that time will tell and I'm right in when I say that
This is what I really need to know

Lights across the sky, I'm giving in
I feel no shame, I'm coming to get you
I won't let go, don't even know
how to say, it's coming any day

I have seen the future and it's coming your way
Take the chance of knowing only time will portray
Caught between the devil and the deep blue sea
Thoughts go rushing through it baby, don't you agree

There's somebody out there
Realise

I'm looking around the place and I realise
All of the things that I have denied
I’m walking through the streets like I'm in disguise
All day longing for happier times

Wandering round by yourself
Wondering your mind, away
Take all of the prize yourself
Wasting my time, away

I'm sitting alone in the place and I realise
Changing faces all through the time
I’m Seeing all the fools rushing down the line
I can't escape this frame of mind

Running round by yourself
Wishing your time, away
Take all of the prize yourself
Wasting your life, away

It's now I realise
That the place in my mind can't be found
Pretty girl in the Blanket

Pretty girl in the blanket
Looking up at me
Wondering what you're thinking
And who you're going to be

Your hands are soft and wrinkly
She's got mischief in her eyes
That pretty girl in the blanket
Was such a nice surprise

You sleeping in your own world
Is such a perfect sight
Look forward to you joining us
And that things turn out just right

Your face is small and scrunchy
Except when you open your eyes
That pretty girl in the blanket
Was such a nice surprise

Your skin is warm and tender
And when I hear your cries
That pretty girl in the blanket
Was such a nice surprise
Since Knowing You

Since knowing you I've found it hard to say
Since knowing you I`ve taken every day
One step at a time until I make you mine

Since knowing you I can`t see what to do
Since knowing you I know I`ll push on through
But I can`t stop now until I find out how

Something inside could have known what it been so strong
Baby, Since you`ve been gone

Since knowing you I know my time will come
Since knowing you I don`t know where to run
Far away from here when I have you near

Since knowing you I know you're one of a kind
Since knowing you I can't get off my mind
The picture of you even if you want me to

Something inside could have known what it been so strong
Baby, Since you`ve been gone
It’s What I Know

It's what I know about the times we had
that makes me feel so cold it makes me feel so sad
Instead of playing all those silly games
I know that life will never be the same again

Oooh, ah, ah

But I know it wasn't wasted time
All the feelings that you had were in your mind
The expression of a life that I can find
Is why I'm staying alive
We're just sitting in a world that's make believe
There's so much more you can conceive
Take your chance, go on and leave
But I'm staying alive

Knowing all of what it could have been
For all of life's little pleasures that would never see
Tired of searching all and in between
There must be some way out of this relentless dream

It's what I know about the times we had
that makes me feel so cold it makes me feel so sad
